Worship, fellowship, work and play!

Today was a day of work, fellowship and a little play.  We started our day with a very spiritually filled church service in La Ceibita.  We were welcomed by a bunch of little kids with signs in English and Spanish saying welcome.  Lots of smiles and hugs and familiar faces.  Its always such a spiritual service with so much connection and love and I really enjoy these services.  My favorite part - the little kids running around and no one being all too concerned.  Its a wonderful thing to see so many kids and they don’t all have to have their bums in chairs! After church, the church family fed everyone a snack and we spent time outside catching up with people.  I got to visit with my little girl Valery and got to enjoy her amazing snuggles for a while.  She stole a piece of my heart the first time I met her and I just love to visit with her.  I chatted with her mom a little bit and we talked about connecting more with church.

We then began the task of setting up the optical clinic, while the VBS team worked on preparing materials for the week.  All hands on deck and everyone chipping in and helping makes light work.  The clinic got set up fairly quickly and we are ready for patients tomorrow.  Late in the afternoon we drove to Truijjo for a little down time and fellowship before a busy week.  We did a tour on a boat to go see starfish so that was pretty cool - but also pretty wet!  We had a good time just laughing together and enjoying the scenery and we definitely didn’t stay dry.  Honduras is a beautiful country. We made it back to shore after the tour and then drove back towards Tocoa for dinner.  Dinner was at a beautiful family restaurant just outside of town.

Today was a little bit of a challenge for me personally because of things going on at home and it has been hard not to get distracted by it.  When we come so far from home its hard not to worry when things go wrong with your own family.  But, I”m doing my best to focus on the mission and why we are here and God’s plan.

Even with all that, I’m excited to get to the church tomorrow and start giving glasses to people who need them.  Its such a blessing to be able to provide the ability to see and read!

My prayers tonight are to help me stay focused and keeping moving forward.  Its going to be a great week!

Tomorrow is our first work day so time for sleep!
