Trust in the path

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”.  Proverbs 3:5-6

What a great day today was.  It was super busy in optical and we saw over a 100 patients.  Josie was able to run most of optical with the help of a few other team members.  It has been a blessing having multiple people trained on the equipment to enable me to do other things.

Today, I was driving into town with Jorge one of our translators, and Kyrie and Taylor.  We were on the hunt for more sunglasses and low power readers.  Our translator wasn’t sure where to look for them and decided to pull over for a second.  We happened to pull over right in front of an optometrist.  After discussing whether we should go in and talk with them, we finally did.  What happened next, was an amazing experience that was so clearly guided by God.  Angie, the Dr. Working there asked us what we were doing in town and why we were looking for readers and sunglasses.  When our translator Jorge explained, she teared up and said that was the most beautiful thing.  She decided right there and then that she was going to be involved with the mission. We chatted for a while and she asked where it was. A few hours later, I was at the clinic and she showed up!  She has promised to help us with the clinic going forward, even suggested she could bring some of her own equipment.  She also said she could get us connected to an eye surgeon who could take care of our patients that have cataracts.  Its very common for older folks here to have cataracts and they are relatively easily treated with surgery.  So it is exciting to be able to finally find a way to help those folks out.  We have lots to talk about and plan but God is good and he pushed us in this direction, I have no doubts about that.  We are where we are meant to be and doing what we are supposed to be doing.  The media showed up again at the clinic and interviewed the Optometrist and myself and while she was on TV she made an appeal for other doctors to come forward to help with the clinic.  What a beautiful day!

Others did some VBS with the special needs kids and more home visits. Doing home visits in this area has been pretty special because it has been a great way to meet the new community that we are working in.  With the new feeding center being here now and the mission growing, we really want to get to know our neighbors.  There have been lots of invites especially for the kiddos to come to the feeding center.

Today the heavens opened and it poured for a little while.  We “discovered” where some of the leaks are in the building!  A few of us were so hot from the heat that we ran out into the rain and soaked it up!  Super fun.

Such a great day today.  Tomorrow we have a celebration and officially open the feeding center.  That is going to be awesome!

Blessings.
