May 2022 Mission! - Just breathe!
Welcome back to the Honduras travel blog. This will probably be the only coherent blog post for the trip because I have not quite reached complete exhaustion! Although it has been a week. Moving kids home from college for the summer, and college graduations and all the things that life throws at you with raising kids and living life. At one point I was completely frazzled at all I had to do to get ready for this mission. Overwhelmed, exhausted, stretched and behind. But then I came across an older post from one of my favorite authors, Bob Goff who helped me find some perspective and remember the reasons why we do this. Although I want this trip to be perfect, especially for the newbies on the trip, I know it won’t be humanly perfect but it will be perfect if God is at the center of my plans. I spent too much time working on the details, trying to make it humanly perfect and not remembering to fill my bucket with things that matter. The post from Bob Goff brought me right back to that but also reminded me what Love is. The reason we go. We love the people that we work with in La Ceibita and Tocoa and love the relationships that we are building. They are like family. For me its like going to be with extended family, not about going on “mission”. Honestly, they do so much more mission work than I ever could do. Their strength and faith is something we don’t see to often in the states.

For now, all the team bags are packed, optical equipment ready to go, 6 of us in a hotel at O'Hare, and the remaining 6 are meeting us at the terminal at 3:30am. Its an early night for us and the night is just beginning for the Illinois folks. They have a 3 hour drive and it begins at midnight. It’s exhausting at times, but so worth it. Tomorrow we fly out bright and early at 6am and then when we arrive in Honduras around lunch time we have an 8 hour drive. Keep us in your prayers for a safe and fruitful journey and an amazing week!
Watch this space for more posts throughout the week!
