I got to ride in a tuk tuk and ended the day with an awesome cultural night!
So of course, pharmacy was pretty exhausted too....
Mike showed off juggling prenatal vitamin bottles, and we all had time snuggling with the babies in the clinic.
We have had some members of our team drop for various reasons - one person getting sick and the other rolled her ankle and ended up on crutches, a doc slammed his fingers in the van door and I broke my key in the hotel room door! Spirits are still good though even besides the challenges!
At the end of the day we headed outside for some air and some folks were going to take a walk around the village. I asked the Pastor if I could drive the Tuk Tuk and he said that it would not be safe - I don’t know what he was implying 🤷🏻♀️ But he did say I could ride in it! So, I hopped in the back and Lorena, pastors wife had a large bucked with the mixings of Horchata. She said we were going to drive over to Candida’s husband where he would process the mix for horchata! Super fun. It was a really fun, super bumpy ride and we got to the house where the the horchata was being made. I videoed the whole things because it was fascinating. Video is below. Then our next task was getting back to the church, in the tuk tuk with a bucket of now liquified horchata, without spilling! Over many bumps, and potholes and not a drop was spilled! Such a fun ride. We got back to the church and as a thank you and show of appreciation, the church and community had planned a cultural night for us! What a treat. We were entertained with singing and dancing, and skit from the kiddos, and some local Honduran dancers that came to perform. We got fed an awesome plate of traditional Honduran foods and had a super fun time.
The evening ended with us heading to a coffee shop in town to have our nightly debrief and devotion then we headed back to the hotel to shower and rest for the next day. Days are long and exhausting and it is almost 11pm and I am still not done with this blog - but I would not change it for the world. There is something so peaceful about being in mission. Sure, it has its challenges and there are hard and frustrating times, sad and unfortunate things that we witness every day but there’s a peace that moves through you knowing that even just a little bit you are touching someone’s life and that they are touching your life. The best part of being in mission is the relationships you build, within your team and with the local community.
After a leadership meeting its time for shower, and getting organized for the next day then off to bed!
It’s been a wonderful trip so far and today for sure was my favorite day. Tomorrow is our last day as we work in the morning and prepare to pack up all of our supplies.
Some fun videos and photos from the day below.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7
