Preparation
It’s been a busy couple of weeks! With my regular commitments outside of mission as well as fundraising events for mission and life in general. Honestly, this past week my stress level was on the up as I was starting to feel overwhelmed with all the things I had to do before I leave on mission next week.
Yesterday I was chatting with a close friend of mine about all of the to do list items and how that was stressing me out. I told her I knew it would all get done and it would all be fine, but until this am I am not sure I really believed it! Last night I headed to bed with my to do list racing through my mind. This am I woke up and it hit me as it always does right before I go on mission. (Thanks for the reminder God). If all I am doing is worrying about the details of packing, and preparing my family for while I’m gone, and taking care of the to do list - I might be missing the mission part of my why I go.
Preparing for mission is not about the to do list. It’s a call. It’s about opening our hearts, to live in grace and the walk in love. It’s about preparing our hearts and minds to go be completely vulnerable to the people around us and to share our faith with those that need it most.
Yes, I still need to pack, yes there is still a to do list, but its now at the bottom of my priority list - I know it will still get done. Today is a new day.
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
